Designed by the “Father of Skycrapers,” architect William LeBaron Jenney built this home amidst his other, much larger--and taller--projects throughout the midwest and Manhattan in 1887. According to my research, this home was originally built for Col James H Bowen, the first president of the Calumet and Chicago Canal Dock Company, and known as the “father of South Chicago.” Today, Bowen High School in South Chicago is named in his honor. You can see what I mean about a house full of history!
